Apple released a statement today that will leave most of the consumer electronics industry and people around the world in shock and awe. One of today's leading innovators and inspirational figures, Steve Jobs passed away today. He is survived by his wife and four children. He was ailing from pancreatic cancer. Jobs stepped down as CEO of Apple in August this year citing his inability to meet duties and expectations as Apple's CEO. His successor, Tim Cook, broke the news on Apple's behalf. Praise for Jobs has poured in from people all over the world including celebrated personalities like Bill Gates and Barack Obama. Apple stores, at least in the US, have started seeing wreaths and personal notes of all shapes and sizes from people. Apple's corporate website features the image you see alongside on its homepage and people can share their thoughts and memories at the e-mail address provided. The death of Jobs leaves a void in the industry which probably none will be able to fill. The WWDC will never be the same.
