A tablet going by the name of "Aakash" was unveiled by Kapil Sibal in the Indian sub-continent today. From what can be gathered, this is a government initiative, likely, to increase internet and media consumption across the country. If you happen to be a student, this tablet can be had for as little as $35 or 1750 INR, otherwise you pay $60. The tablet is being sourced by the government from a UK-based outfit by the name of DataWind. The first lot of 100,000 tablets will be provided to most states across the country. Here's what you get:

DataWind has set up operations in Hyderabad where it is currently producing 700 units a day and plans to go commercial very soon where it will sell each tablet for an estimated 2999 INR. This tablet, however, is likely to have upgraded hardware.
